Prorogation of Parliament. The Representation Bill. [I’JEPv PRESS AGENCY.j Wellington, Tuesday evening. The House met at 2.80. Sir Donald McLean announced, in reply to a question, that practically all business would be got through that day, but that the formality of prorogation would probably not take place till Thursday at mid-day. Tire bulk of the business was answering an array of miscellaneous questions, mostly of purely local interest. The report on the Representation Bill was brought up, and tho technical amendment agreed to. On the motion for tho third reading, Mr Bkechan, Sir George Grey, and Mr Reid recorded their protests against tho Bill as unsatisfactory, unjust, and likely to be a source of evil to the colony for years to come. Mr Pyko supported tho Bill for tho same reasons us tho others opposed it. He welcomed it as paving the way to insular separation, a-.d a Federal Government. Major Atkinson and Mr Bowen defended the Bill us being tho best that could be done under the circumstances, and being on the whole tolerably fair. Tho Bill was read a third time and passed on the voices.

The Homo rose at 5-30. Before going into Supply, Mr Murray will move that the Local Government Bill be circulated a month before tho next session of Parliament.

Major Jackson's new clause to give another member to Waikato was added to the Hill by 2-1 to 20. Mr Tairoa moved for another native member for Waikato, but lost by 89 to 22. Mr W. Kelly tried to annex Poverty Bay to Napier and got another representative, but ■was ruled out of order, a previous motion having been very similar, Mr O’Conor tried for another member for Koefton district, but was defeated by 35 io 17. Mr Stafford succeeded in getting Timaru made two electorates. Mr McGiilivray tried to add a piece of Wallace (Orepnki Goldfields) to Riverton, but was negatived on the voices. Mr Sheehan moved for the southern portion of the Thames bving made a separate electorate with another member. Lost by 42 against 18. On the motion of Mr O’Conor an alteration was made in the Buller and Roefton hietrict boundaries. The second clause was then amended, substituting 8.1 members for 74, and the Bill passed. Several other Pills were passed, including the Disqualification Act Amendment, Registration f Electors Act Amendment, Confiscated Lands Administration, and Public Revenues Act Amendment Bills. The House adjourned at 3 5. It is understood that Sir George Grey, Messrs Macandrew, Rolleston, Fitzherbert, and Bunny leave for Dunedin to-morrow afternoon.

The House will not be prorogued till Thursday.
