POET OF TAUKAN6A. Ban rises and seta this day;—Morning 5.16 ; Evening, 6.13. High water at the Heads this day : Morning, 7.26 j Evening, 7.44.' Moon: Last quarter, 22nd, 1.52 a.m, Aeeitals.—October. 13—Ringleader, Revenue cutter, Grey, from a cruize. 13— Vincent, cutter, Burke, from Opotiki, with produce. 14— Brunette, cutter, Cinnamon, from Whakatane, with produce. 15— Glance, cutter, Allan, from Whangapoa, with limber, consigned to Mr Bodell. Hepaetijees.— Nil. The s.B. Rowena left Auckland for this port via Mercury Bay yesterday afternoon at halfpast five o’clock. It is with regret we learn that the schooner Echo (Parkes, Master), has been totally wrecked at Awanui, a native settlement below Opotiki. She was washed ashore during the hurricane last Saturday 5 her entire cargo has been lost, but fortunately no lives. She was owned by Mr William Black, of Opotiki, and was, we believe, uninsured. Prom Opotiki we learn that news baa just arrived from Maraenui, a settlement situated ©a the banks of the Motu river, about 28 miles to the eastward of that place, that the schooner Boyd, Sbera, master, has just gone ashore there. All hands got ashore, and she has driven up, and they are discharging the cargo. The captain states that he was on his way from Auckland to Wlmngamata, and got blown down into the Bay by a westerly gale, and being unable to beat out was driven ashore. The Boyd has recently changed bands, and was not insured. She is on a shingle beach.
