TAURANGA TOWN BOARD.

A meeting of the Town Board took place on Thursday morning last in Mr Bradley’s office, Wharf Street. Present : Messrs E. G. Norris (Chairman). Firth Wrigloy, and John Conway. The minutes of the last meeting were road and confirmed and correspondence read and approved. A letter from the Engineer, Mill. 0. Jordan, was road, stating that the cost of making the road known as Watson’s Bond, so as to make it at all useful, would require an outlay of at least £‘loo. The Board deferred any decision on the matter for a future occasion.

A letter from the Engineer was read, stating that this was the most favorable season for calling for tenders for the supply of shells which would ho required during the year for necessary works, and suggested that tenders ho called for the same. Mr Firth Wrigley therefore brought forward. Iris previous proposition relative to calling for tenders for the supply of a certain quantity of shells, and it was decided that tenders should bo called for. The Secretary was accordingly instructed to inform the Engineer that ho was fit liberty to call for tenders (returnable in fourteen days) for the supply of 300 cubic yards to bo delivered on the Beach before the 31st of December next. A petition from several ratepayers on the Quarter Acres was read, asking that the Devonport Bead from the church to the new Cross Eoad might be cleared and a pathway formed, the same being in places .almost impassable owing to the furze and bush growing thereon. The Secretary warn directed to reply, stating the petition should receive the early consideration of the Board, and the Engineer was directed to prepare an estimate of the cost of such clearing and work. One month’s notice was directed to bo given to owners of property whoso hedges were overgrowing the pathway, to cause the same to ho cut down to proper limits, or the Weeds and Watercources Act would be put ii i force.
