The Helena cleared outwards yesterday for Auckland with part of original cargo, and will probably sail this morning. The cutter Start left Auckland fur Tauranga with four immigrants’ cottages on Wednesday morning. She is probably weather-bound eomewhere, but may be hourly expected. The a a Southern Cross arrived alongside the wharf shortly after two o’clock on Wednesday morning last. She left Auckland at 4 o’clock p.tn. on the previous Saturday, arrived at Mercury Hay early' on the following morning, and was windbound there until Tuesday afternoon, when she again faced the dangers of the deep, arriving as above. Owing to the very rough weather prevailing on Monday and Tuesday some fears were entertained as to the safety of the Cross. There is, however, as a rule, little cause for apprehension so long as Captain Sellars commands the little steamer. He has the bumps of caution and prudence moat strongly developed, and indeed a “ safer skipper ” could not bo found in New Zealand waters. By telegram we learn that the s s Southern Cross arrived at Auckland at 9 p.m. on Thursday.
