MR GRACE AND MR EDGCUMBE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Relative to the statements of the Chairman of the Board as to hts having closed no roads in the land occupied by him, I beg to refer to the Government plan of the township of Tauranga, and as a further evidence, to a long line of fence put up by him, which forms the boundary of one of these roads. When this land was open I only relinquished my intention of leasing a portion oi’ it on account of one of these roads being pointed out to me, which would have interfered with the only site for a house. It is clear from the plan that the Government could not have intended that the Devonport Road should come to a full stop at Mr Edgcumbe’s fence. As things stand at present the greater part of section No. 2 is placed in a deep bay by the stoppage in question, and there is no available exit except by the Cameron Road, which is more than half a mile from my house. No doubt the Government will be able to make this matter clear should it be farther disputed.—l am, &c., T. S. Grace. Tauranga, August 19, 1874.
