SCHOOL MEETING AT OPOTIKI.
(FHO.M OUR OWN Ci)UIU:.SI>OXHE.\T,) A School, Committee meeting was held at the School-house last week. Present : Messrs 11. W Brabant, (Chairman), R. King, Charles J)ette, and C. D. Litchfield (Secretary). The Secretary produced’ a public subscription list in aid of the fund for enlarging the teacher’s quarters, and paid in £l2; grant from the Central Board, £sfo ; tatai, £.J I . Against, which there stood the following contra:' P. Croon’s balance of account for the erection of the buildnig, £ I 1/s ; d 1 11 o for p laris and spec, flcal ions of the new addition, 10s G.l ; Mr Jimuph Thompson, aeeount as per contract, for the creed ion of the same, £3 t ; leaving balance to credit, 12s Gd. It was proposed by Mr Brabant, seconded by rLi fen field, 1 hat Mr R. Ihompson’s account be passed for payment on the certificate of Mr Wyatt, She resident schoolmaster, and a member of the committee that the work has been fully and sar is factor Ily completed. ’’—Carried unanimously. Mr 11. \\ . Brabant, then called the attention of the coiiitnitl.ee to t he main part of the school building, which hud given way m roof and wali-plutea, and was consequently in a da?, rmrous .-ditto. r Proposed by Mr H, King, Seconded by MrC. 1 'el.i.e, 1 but. iron bars or binders bo provided, and that the building bo properly drawn together and strengthened therewith.”—-Carried unanimously . An account was placed upon «lie table from Mr Thomas Black for the sum of £5 7s for the lining find papet ing a room in ttie teacher’s quarters during the occupancy of the Rev. James .Martin. After some deliberation the Committee decided no) to entertain the account-, and instructed the Secretary to write to .Mr Black to that effect. Mr C. D. Litchfield was elected to assist Mr Wyatt in the inspection of the building, and the meeting separated.
