TAURANGA DISTRICT SCHOOL.

A meeting of the District School Committee was hold at Hr Norris’s store at Tauranga on Monday last, _ Present: Mr S. L. Clarke (Chairman), I) r Armitage, Mr Ccnway, and Mr Maxwell (.Secretary). Xhe minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman read a letter received from the Secretary of the Board of Education, Auckland, respecting tit-tings, &&*., for school applied for by the Commit-tee, the purport of which wis “ that the Board would be glad to give the matter their favorable consideration when in a position to do so.” The Chairman having react an applicafion from Mr Gardiner for the use of the district school for dancing classes, it was proposed by Mr Conway, and seconded by Mr Maxwell. “That the district school house, not being insured, should not be let for dancing classes ; but, as there is no hall in the district, and the Committee being out of funds, it may be let fur private pn poses on Fridays (subject to the approval of the Chairman) at £'l per night.”—Carried. If. was proposed by Mr Conway, and seconded hj' Dr Arndt age, ‘‘ Ihat the school be opened by singing, and that the same be attended to daily.’’ Carried. Mr Maxwell then proposed, and Mr Conway seconded, “ ihat the Chairman be requested to communicate with the Secretary of the Board of Education, Auckland, respecting military drill of children attending (he school, and the amount set apart for such purpose.” Carried. 1 his concluded the business, and the meeting separated. °
