By telegram we learn |b«.» cuubs left Auckland for Tauwnjja at 7 a.uu yesterday morning. A private telegram received in Tauranga on Monday announced the fallowing : —“ Blowing heavy gale here. Cross will not leave this weather. Coastal cutters have raised their freight.” C O AIM IS U CIA L ” Bat of Feentt Times Office, Tuesday Afternoon. In referring to the floating of the new Colonial Bank the Otago Guardian says : —“ To the already influential list, of provisional directors of the Colonial Bank of New Zealand we observe an addition of the name of Mr Joseph Clarke, son of the late Hon. W. J. T, Clarke, of Victoria and Moa Fiat. Mr Clarke’s interests in this province are estimated to be the most extensive of any individual holder of property and investments in the colony, and doubtless such influence and support to the new Colonial Bank will bo most valuable. Mr Clarke and his brother, Mr W. Clarke, are the largest proprietors and are also directors of the Colonial Bank in Victoria. The prospects, we bear, are most encouraging, and promise that the bank will start with a widely spread proprietary, embracing every class in the community.”
