A telegram was recently received by the manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company, dated New Plymouth, announcing that the Paterson, ss, got ashore at Waitara. Efforts to get her off proved fruitless. The Southern Cross arrived from Ohiwa on Thursday afternoon about 4 o’clock, and left for Auckland at 10 the same night. She may be expected here again 10-morrrow.
