The Luna arrived at Napier from Wellington on -turday morning 1. t, and shortly afterwards returned to the Empire City, She will he required by the Government before long to gather together the members of the General Assembly tor the fo; dicoming session of Parliament. We quote another instance of the carelessness of the person, whoever he may be, whose duty it is to telegraph the arrival of steamers from Tauranga at Auckland. The Southern Cross was officially posted up In the telegraph office, Tauranga, as having arrived at 10 o’clock on Thursday morning last, whereas Captain Sellars states distinctly that the steamer arrived at four the same morning. The schooner Colonist, Captain Moller, from Mercury Bay for Napier, timber laden, put in Tauranga harbour early yesterday morning through stress of weather. The Southern Cross, left for Motiti and Ohiwa at midnight on Monday. She landed passengers at Motiti, but. Captain Sellars informs us, could not proceed to Ohiwa owing to a strong head wind and heavy sea. The agent requests us to mention that the Southern Cross will leave for Auckland at 9.80 a.m. this day.
