COMMERCIAL.

Bay of Plenty Times Office, Friday livening. An advertisement appears in the Southern Cross of the 13th instant, announcin'* the sale at auction by Messrs S. Cochrane and Son, in their chambers, Auckland, of a number of allotments of land at Tau.. .nga, the property of the Church Mission Society. We cannot believe that the Society will allow these sections to be sold without notice being given of such intention in the columns of the local journal. Such a course of action would savour too much of bole and corner work, and bo grossly unfair to present occupiers and the people of Tauranga generally. We presume we shall receive instructions by the Southern Gross. ** Better late than never but it appears to us exceedingly strange that the proposed sale has not been made public here long before this. JEvea the agent, Mr hTorris, knew nothing definite about the date of the auction yesterday. The following are the latest quotations of the Auckland markets obtained from telegraphic and other sources;
