Clarke Esq, J P. ] iLaurenee MeGoirern. on the information of bergeant Naden, was chafed as followa :—That he dtd, oo the 6th ultimo, set on, urge, or permit a dog to attack or worry certain animals, do, Sec, contrary to clause 88 of the Auckland Mnmo«Dal Police Act, 1866. " ~* The evidence adduced proTei that on the day m question defendant's dog pursued and attacked a floek of sheep which were groaing upon unenclosed land within the town of Tauranga. As no actual damage waa proved, defendant waa fined in the mitigated penalty of ss, and ordered to pay the coats—-16s Bd. The highest penalty for aueh an offence amounts to £lO.
