As an index to the market, price of sermons we give the following from an English ecclesiastical journal ; —“ Sermons.— Good, sound sermons by an experienced clergyman, adapted for the Church’s year. Subscription, 13s per quarto-. Single MS, for any Sunday, fifteen stamps. SP G, confirmation, hospital, &c, 2s 6d each. Clergy only—address, &o.” “ Sermons.— Sound, practical, and original. Edited by an Oxford graduate. Strictly confined to the clergy. M S for the season and SPG (2s fid) now ready. A specimen, Is fid ; address, &c. ” Sermons.— Earnest, orginal, practical, upon the Sunday Gospels, Epistles, and Old Testament Lessons, by an experienced priest. Specimens free on approval to clergymen. Sermon for an assize, volunteer corps, &e. Strict confidence. N.B.— These sermons have been highly commended by many eminent and earnest clergvmon ; address, &c.” Whatever may be thought of the traffic, it cannot he said that the charges aro exorbitant. Only fancy, a Sunday’s edification —in manuscript too—for fifteen stamps.
