MEETING OF MILITARY SETTLERS. DINNER TO CAPTAIN FRASER.

A MEETING!- of the military settlers of the Ist Waikato Regiment was held, pursuant to advertisement, at the Masonic Hotel on Thursday evening last, ■' Captain Turner occupied the chair; and amongst those present we also noticed Captains Tunis and Norris, Messrs Bodall, Howard, Grant, Bickers P.erey, Redmond, F. Robertson, M. Herbert’ Dobbyn, Chaplin, Shaughnessy (sen.) Kinsley! Snowden, Stephen Earl, Kennedy, P, Lake Watt, Redferu, McOaw, P. Herbert, Gravatt’ Fitzgerald, John Cook, Spiering, P. Collins’ Brownlie, Fielding Haggarry. Bradley, John White, Birr, George Lemon (jun.) Rolfe Martin, Bills, Walsh, and others. * The Chairman explained that the object of the meeting was to make some acknowledgment in the shape of a dinner or supper to Captain Fraser, late of the Ist Waibatoa (who is now on a visit to this district), for the kind manner in which been? ertained them some eighteen mouths aoo! The proposition appeared to meet with <»reat favour from all present. ** It was proposed by Mr James Robertson, and seconded by Mr Kennedy, “That a complimentary dinner he given by the military settlers to Captain Fraser on a day to be hereafter appointed the hour to be 7 p.m. ’ The following gentlemen were appointed as a committee to carry out the foregoing resolution • —Captains Turner and Tanks, Messrs Bill* Howard, and Grant. '

After some financial business, and the usual vote of thanis to the chairman, the meeting separated. °
