We have to acknowledge the receipt, with thanks, from our townsman, Mr Corbett, of a date number of the Fiji Times. The settlers are, it would, appear, shortly to have their wish for annexation granted. A Boyal Commission from England is making enquiries upon tho spot. The King and principal chiefs hare expressed themselves in favor of British rule. Tho form of Government will bo an after consideration. A now newspaper is shortly to bo started at Tevuka, called The Scourge. We take the following from tho prospectus: —“‘Mr Fat,’ known to tho fancy aa tho ' broth of a boy,’ will be tho fighting editor, and weapons and utensils for the convenience of sensitive persons will be kept on the premises; an experienced surgeon and an undertaker will bo thrown in gratia- The objects of this periodical will bo to insist os morality, both public and private. In short the decalogue will bo enforced as if fresh from the mouth of Moses or Brigham Young. To conclude, no ono shall bo spared—but those who pay ia advance shall have tho paper, and those who don’t shall have their characters exposed. Contributions will bo thankfully received -either ia coin or in good scandal. Printed and published, at the Heform Oiub."
