TOWN BOARD ; YESTERDAY'S MEETING. A meeting of tlio members of the above Board was held yesterday morning at the Secretary’s office. Present—All tlio members except Mr Samuels. TOWN DRAINAGE. The Chairman stated that this work could not be commenced for a fewdaysowirg to the absence of Captain Turner, District Engineer. WHARF GOODS SHED. The following letter, from Mr Stephen Earl, Gate Pa, was read - “ T&uranga, March 12, ISvT. “ Sir, —I understood that the goods shed on the wharf was erected for the purpose of affording shippers of produce the means of housing same until an opportunity of shipment. I have been put to very great inconvenience in finding a place for depositing some few tons of potatoes owing to the shed being occupied by wheat belonging to Mr Chadwick. This wheat has been there some time, and there seems no probability of its being removed. May I ask of your Board whether this is in accordance with the terms upon which permission was granted to erect the shed. Xam a honafide shipper, and only want a place to store in until the first arrival of a boat to remove same to Auckland. Under the present, arrangement I shall have to pay doable cartage, and probably lose from exposure. —I have, &c., “ Stephen Earl. “ The Chairman Tauranga Highway Board.” Mr Norris said that the goods shed was erected solely for the storage of goods from and shipment on board the s.s. Southern Cross. Mr Wrigley. Yes; and chiefly for the convenience of shippers of produce living at some distance from the township. After considerable discussion, the Chairman and two members of the Board paid a visit of inspection to the goods shed ; and later in the day the following letter was forwarded to Mr Card no : *’ Sir, —It having been brought under the notice of the Town Board that the goods shed, situate at the end of the wharf, has been used for other purposes than that for which it was originally intended, viz., for receiving and distributing cargo, (to the detriment of shipper.) They (the Board) were induced to inspect the shed, and found a considerable portion oi it occupied as an office and by goods, the property of private individuals, consigned to Mr Cardno for sale. This being in direct opposition to arrangements made with Captain Sellars, I have the honour to request, on behalf of the Board, that you will at once cause such office and goods to be removed, in order that shippers may be enabled to find storage for their goods until the arrival of the steamer; and such goods to be cleared before her departure, and all goods received from her immediately after. —I have, &c., , “ T. Tunes, Chairman.” CAPTAIN NORRI 3 ON UNDRESS UNIFORM FOR DOGS. Mr Norris said that, at the suggestion of Sergeant Naden, he wished to bring before the notice of the Board the fact that it was not desirable the Board should provide collars for registered dogs.
