Bay of Plenty Times Office, Friday Evening. A good deal of business in the grain market—especially wheat— has been transacted during the week, and several excellent parcels have been purchased by storekeepers from tho natives. Generally ei’ops have been well-harvested, and tho grain is selling in first-class condition. The harvest being nearly over, there are increased signs of activity in the stock market. We bear of a mob of lino milch cows and calves to bo driven over for sale at the Thames in the course of a few days. Sheep are being regularly forwarded from Tauranga by every opportunity for sale by Messrs Hunter and Holan, of Auckland. Wc direct attention to Mr Heushaw’s auction sale of furniture and sundries, announced to take place at his rooms this afternoon. Mr Bodcll will hold an auction sale of 20 cases of tho “ celebrated Powhatan pipes” and saddlery at his mart on Monday, at noon, Mr Bodoli reports : —“Tho demand for cattle during tho month was very limited. Milch cows, £6 to £lO. Two and three * year old steers and heifers, from £!■ to £B 10s. Horses have sold at fair prices. Land : Numerous inquiries for blocks up to 10,000 acres. I have sold one block of 500 acres, and two other blocks are at present under consideration. I expect next week they will have changed hands. These blocks will be occupied at once by settlers who will be a great acquisition to this district.”
