CANTERBURY GRAIN MARKET, By telegram we learn that a good deal of business has been doing during the past week. We bear of one firm which, since the commencement of the season has purchased over 80,000 bushels. Deliveries are slow, farmers being still busy harvesting. Wheat remains at 4s 3d to 4s fid. A few shipments are to bo made in English ships, but, at present, only throe lighter loads have gone off—two to the Soukar and one to the Star of India. The millers have not as yet altered the rates for flour, viz , £ll 10s, in sacks; £l2, in bags; 10s extra f.o.b. in Lyttelton; bran and sharps, £4 10s to £5, For oats, prices varying from 2s fid to 2s 9d are obtainable, the figure depending mainly on the date at which the seller is prepared to deliver. At these rates several sales have taken place ; but some farmers, in view of the prices ruling in Victoria, are holding out for a further rise. Several shipments have been made to Victoria and coastwise. Barley is dull at 4s ; grass seed, also, is slow of sale st 3s 9d.
