Here is a scientific nut to crack! A contemporary states that a tin tack was found by one of its subscribers in the white of an egg. It was embedded in the substance of an egg, and had clearly taken up that position before the latter was laid. By what internal process the tack passed from the hen’s stomach to the ovary it is rather difficult to determine.
