At the last meeting of the Board of Education hell at Auckland, it was resolved that the Christmas vacation for district schools in the city and suburbs be from Friday, the 19th December, to Monday, the 19th January. Au application was made, asking for the appointment of Miss Wyatt assistant teacher, and teacher of needlework, at Opntiki; and for a sun of £25 towards the teacher’s house.— he matter was deferred until after the session of the Provincial Conncil. The appointment of Mr Goertx as teacher for the district of Taumnga was approved of.
