It is reported that when the boat was coming off it was swamped. Ho was partly rescued by'Mr Dargavilie, who was a passenger bv the Enterprise. On arrival at the wharf, liarg iviile engaged a carriage and sent Williamson home. It is generally reported that the celebrated Paddy Bon field is engaged working for Lusk. Another report says he is engaged by Williamson. Dargavilie had a very successful meeting at the Thames. Nearly 2,000 voters present, who passed an almost unanimous vote of confidence, there being only IS hands held up against. All the candidates are now working very hard. Thursday Morning.
Great excitement. Every- vehicle in the place is engaged, mostly for Dargavilie and Williamson. Betting even on Williamson and Dargavilie; 3 tr 1 against Lusk. Almost every house is placarded with posters and squibs with “ Vote for Dargavilie! retrenchment and reform;” “Vote for Lusk and sobriety “ Vote for Williamson, your old friend.” At 10 o’clock. It was reported that Dagaville had polled 200 votes at Parnell ; Lusk, 19 ; Williamson, 10 At Newton, the majority appears favourable to Williamson. Friday Morning. Tho following are the results of the poll at the undermentioned places :
At Helensviile. Ifatene addressed the nativeelectors on behalf of Williamson in a long speech, and afterwards distributed sugar and tocacco. Sir George Grey was present at Matabana. All the Wiiiwera people voted at Mahurangi Heads. Sis attempted personadons were detected. He said the Loans Bill was a good measure, but the Legislative Council had no sympathy with the mass of the people.
