The annual meeting of the members of the Mechanics’ Institute was held in the reading room last night. A report of the proceedings shall appear in our next. Wo exceedingly regret that we are compelled to hold over a report of the native meeting held at Wbareroa to welcome Mr Commissioner Claako back to Taurauga.EJ His Excellency the Governor lus been pleased to appoint Henry Taoy Clarke, Esq , to be Under Secretary in the Native Department. Mr Clarke’s appointment appears in the last Gazette.
