The Returning Officer for tho district of Tauranga announces iu another coin mn that tho nomination for the Provincial Council will take place on 'Wednesday next, the 22ud instant, iu the Court house, and the polling, if necessary, will be taken on tho I2th November. We are glad to see from an advertisement That appears in our columns that there is at length some prospect of tho permanent establishment amongst us of an industry of which wo have ever been staunch advocates. A Bay of Plenty Fish Curing Company is notified as having commenced operations. It is, of course, premature to say much on the matter, so at present we content ourselves with wishing tho embryo company success and prosperity.
