TOWN BOARD.
A meeting of the Town Board was held on Monday morning at Mr Norris's store. Present : Captain Tunis, Chairman ; Messrs Samuels.' Norrit., McDonald, and Conway. Mr Booth, the new y appointed Secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting, which were duly confirmed.
THE BEACH ROAD EXTENSION, the . motitm °f Mr Norris, seconded by Mr McDonald, the Treasurer was requested to pay over to the contractors for the Beach Road extension the sum of £62 15s 3d, being 75 per centum on tne value ol the timber required for the work.
IiMP Eoa TtitS WH UiP A'ter some discussion it was agreed to erect a lamp, which had lately arrived from Auckland, price £§, Mr McDonald liberally agreeing to provide oil for such lamp gratuitously as lorn* as he continued in business on the beach. °Mr Samuels offered bis services, premising to see that the lantern was regularly trimmed aadjighted, Air bamuels was unanimously appointed eeni of the lamp. °
the CAMERON ROAD. _Tho Chairman suggested that the General Uofernment should be lequesfcod to complete the -r ira^joa us lar a 3 the new cutting, near to Mr itdgcumbe’a property. This road ’was the mmn trunk line to Napier and the Thames, and he thought the Government would cot refuse the application under the circumstances if applied to in a pioper manner through the member for the district, Mr William Belly. The road had never been properly formed, and it was beyond the means of the Board to do the work, which Was actually necessary at the present time. A.d ■^• r McDonald, and seconded by Mr Conway, that the Secretary be instructed to write to Mr Kelly, requesting him to bring the matter before the House of Representatives. Carried unanimously. HvmoVal OF EARTH. Messrs McDonald and Conway, at the request of the Board, promised to see that the proper level was kept in removing earth from Wharf Stieet for filling op the Beach Road extension.
