Lund, both township and suburban, is rapidly rising in value, and, what is more to the purpose, changing bauds at the iuipr ved ride. Several inquiries have been made of late for large tracts of country, for agricultural purposes, in this distiict. In consequence of the inclemency of the weather general trade has been dull during the last few days, but, on the whole, business is daily improving. Messrs Booth and Co.’s auction sales on Wednesday and Thursday were postponed uu account of the heavy rains. We give the following local quotations as retail prices ; Oats, 7s to Ss ; maize (New Zealand), ds to (5s Gd ; Sydney maize, none in stock ; bran, 2s to 2s l»cl; chad, hs; sharps, Ids per ewt ; flour. Ids, Ids, and 20s per IOOIbs j pot aloes, C 5 to £5 10s per tun ; bacon, Sd to Is ; hams, 10.1 to Is j cheese (colonial), Is ■ eggs, Is fkl to Is ltd ; fifcsh butter. An increase in. the price of general oilmen’s stores is contemplated should the new tariff be carried out in its integrity ; but from late advices we do not apprehend this will take place.
