RECEPTION TO “KING COBB.”

Ik accordance with announcement, a public meeting (convened by Mr Edgcurabe) was held on Saturday evening at the Masonic Hotel, in order to take steps to organise some public demonstration in honour of the arrival at Tauranga of the £rat coach from Napier. There was a large attendance, and Mr Lewis Samuels occupied the chair. After discussion, it was unanimously agreed to give King Cobb and the reigning Jehu a public reception, and the following gentlemen were elected as a committee to carry out the project: Messrs Edgcutnbe, Bennet, Samuels, London, It. McDonald, aeh or, and Captain Skeet. Votes of thanks to Mr Edgcumbe and the Chairman were unanimously carried, and the meeting terminated.

THE RECEPTION COMMITTEE.

The Reception Committee appointed at the public meeting on Saturday met on Monday at the Masonic Hotel, and decided upon a programme to, as fur as possible, give eclat to the arrival of the Napier coach. We are pleased to see the school children are not forgotten. Further particulars appear in our advertising columns. Wo sincerely trust Friday may be a fine day, and also that it will be observed as a general holiday. We look upon the establishment of an inland coach as a red letter day for Tauranga—an era from which a considerable amount of prosperity will probably be dated.
