THE MAMMOTH COMPANY.

The Mammoth Polygraphic Troupe, in conjunction with Signor Ferx-ari’a Brazilian Monkeys, arrived by the Southern Cross, and gave performances on Thursday and yesterday evenings, at Fraser's Hall, to large and appreciative audiences. There was also a Matinee yesterday afternoon, at which a number of our sable friends were present. W e regret that we have not room for a more ex- i tended critique, but space is valuable. The entertainments were most successful. Miss Emily Neilson, a young lady of great personal attractions, with graceful manners and deportment, possesses a sweet though not powerful voice, ami was exceeedingly happy in the selection and rendering of several delicious ballads. That she ’ has a vein for humour, too, was also apparent in the duet “ Mr and Mrs Wright,” with Mr Bromley. We learn that Miss Noilson has only lately made her dthuf upon the stage. There is an i indescribable something which stamps the prue- j liaed professional, and that something is agreeably j wanting in this very pleasing and ladylike vocalist. We predict for Miss Neilson a good position in the profession of her choice. Mr Bromley needs no praise from us. The Press of n ustralia and New Zealand Lave acknowledged ; him to be a first-class “character” singer, having j great comical and facial powers, and we can mot* ;
