William WXgley iloffatt, of Rotorua, was K° U ”^ fc U P * n custod y. charged with having obtained goods and money amounting to £9 6a 9d irom Lewis Samuels, merchant, of Tauranga. Sergeant Naden appeared for the prosecution, and Detective Kell was also in attendance. The prisoner in reply to the charge said, “ X have nothing to say at present, until I can produce witnesses.” On the "application of Sergeant Radon, the prisoner was remanded for a week in order to procure necessary witnesses, it being understood that should the evidence for the prosecution be forthcoming before that time, the case would be at once proceeded with. v . The prisoner was then taken to the Redoubt.
