Xmas. Tree Carnival.
The 4 principal attraction to mark the close of Show Day festivities in Milton is now recognised as the Xmas Tree Carnival and sale of work, promoted by the Milton Methodist Uhurch, to augment the lunds of the church. The carnival incrcuses m popularity a 8 the years advance, this being evidenced- by the increased returns, which totalled £55 in 1911, £75 last year, and £B6 on Tuesday last. The numerous stalls were laden With a variety of useful and ornamental articles, and the Xmas Tree provided a source of never-ending enjoyment for the juveniles. In addition to the stalls there were {several "side-line" attractions. Throughout the evening the hall was crowded, and those present responded freely to the wiles und cajoleries of the fair lady assistants, with , the foregoing satisfactory iinancial result. Kvery purchaser of an admission ticket received a small present. The Regimental Band played a number of selections outisde the hall during the evening. ,A glance at the list of stalls, enumerated below, shows that every side of human nature had been catered for. The stall-holders were:—

Produce stall—Mrs D. Thompson. Tin Biseuits—Messrs O. Gregory and T Maid.
Telegraph. Stall-Post Office staff. In the guessing competitions the "bride" was won by tax J. W. Petrie; lamb (presented by Mr Jas. France) was won by Mr D. M'Lareu, who guessed within'an ounce of the exact weight (&Jlbs lOozs.); Mrs J. Road, Messrs D. M'Lareu, T. Hitchon and J. Findlay guessed the exact weight of the ham (presented by Mr W. Hitchon), and the ballot lesuked in ravoi of Mr T. Hitchon. The office-bearers of Milton Methodist Church, the stall-holders and assistants are to be cougratulated on the unqualified success attending the annual function.
