All amusing episode occurred on tho waterfront at Auckland the other morning, whereby, according to tho 'Herald,' nn astute drainage contractor hoodwinked 1 a strike picket. He was engaged in .unloading bricks from a truck into his scow preparatory to taking them down 'to Oakei. While engaged in this operation he was told that a strike picket was approaching, so he started to reverse his operations, and to unload; the bricks from the scow into the tnick. The picket duly appeared, and told him to ceaso work, but the man was adamant, and refused. Finally, however, he gave in to superior numbers, audi obeyed the picket's command to replace all tho bricks in the scow. With many protests on the part of the contractor this was accomplished, tho picket actually assisting in the operation'. When -all the bricks liad been placed on the scow, the contractor, having achieved t his object, set hies motor-engine going ana departed for Jiifl cJe&tinatign,
