Preliminary figures for live stock for the 1941-42 season, published In the Abstract of Statistic* for July, are: Horses, 261.581: dairy cows in milk, 1,175,429; total cattle, 4,639,011; sheep shorn, 29,253,624; lambs shorn, 4,592,575: lambs tailed, 18,504,824; lambs shorn, 4,592,575; pigs. 691,602. Auckland has the largest total of dairy cows (601,732), total cattle (1,223,168). breeding sows (33,375) and pigs (245,278).
