95th BIRTHDAY
MISS SARAH DINGWAM,
. ,'?. er home in Remuera yesterday , Miss Sarah Dingwall celebrated her 95th birthday. The occasion was marked by the congratulations of many friends, including representatives of St. Luke's Presbyterian Churcn, of which she has been a member continuously for 65 years. She is the only remaining foundation member of the congregation, and her name appears eighth on the original roll of September, 1877. Miss Dingwall is probably the oldest Auckland-born resident of the city. She was born in Auckland in 1847, her father, Mr. Alexander Dingwall, having arrived at the Bay of Islands about seven years earlier, and her mother having arrived at Auckland by the Jane Gifford in 1842. The late Mr. David Dingwall, founder of the Dingwall Trust and of the orphanage which bears his name, was a brother of Miss Dingwall. Eighty-five years ago her father bought three acres of land in Remuera Road, and 20 years later he made his home there in the house which Miss Dingwall still occupies.
