TWO SUNDAY TRIPS
COCKLE BAY-HOWICK SERVICE The Cockle Bay Progressive Association has been advised by the Licensing Authority that, from August 1, the operators of the Cockle Bay-Howick-Auckland bus service will run two inward and two outward trips on Sundays. At the public hearing on July 8 to consider reductions in the bus service the operators submitted a schedule which eliminated the Sunday service, and the Cockle Bay Progressive Association, through its chairman. Mr. J. J. Mulvihill, protested against the isolation of the area from Saturday afternoon to Monday morning, and requested the authority to instruct the operator to provide two inward and two outward Sunday services. To assist in the conserving of oil and rubber it was suggested that certain middle-of-the-day services run to, and depart from, the tram terminus at Green Lane. The authority has agreed to both suggestions put forward by the association.
