TOBACCO AND ACCESSORIES
Our friend from overseas, in his letter in your issue of July 28, would appear unreasonable if it was not for feet that he is obviously unaware ot the circumstances which compel tobacconists to adopt the attitude he complains of. Matches and cigarette papers ,have —for some time past— been m such short supply that it is not at all uncommon for a tobacconist to give his wholesaler an order ioi tobacco to the value of £50 or more and get no matches or cigarette papers with same. Can Mr. Valentine be surprised, therefore, if we clo give preference to such few customers now left us who purchase cigarettes or tobacco. They surely , e of rst ca d on such small stocks of matches and papers ma y be fortunate enough to obtam. E _ v BU R T .
