Gunner Victor W. Benjamin, second son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Benjamin, of 8, Karaka Street, Newton, who is reported to have died of wounds. At the age of 20 he left Auckland with an early reinforcement. He was educated at Newton West School and the Kowhai Intermediate School. Before leaving for the war he was well known as a member of an Auckland heavy coastal battery.
