TAXI SERVICES
DEFINING ESSENTIAL WORK
PUBLIC MEETING ON FRIDAY
Following on the recommendations of the Commissioner of Transport regarding essential and nonessential taxi work, the Auckland Taxicab Control Committee is holding a public meeting on Friday afternoon for the purpose of hearing the views of all interested parties and more clearly defining the various classes of work. A public notice to- this effect appears elsewhere in this paper.
The Taxicab Control Committee, an official stated this morning, was more particularly concerned with the effect of a general prohibition of work outlined Dy the Commissioner of Transport as non-essential. The committee realises that, in some instances, a general prohibition order may result in hardship, and in many cases may be unreasonable. An endeavour is being made to contact as many interested parties as possible in order to ascertain the requirements of every section of the community.
