TRAVEL PERMITS
RESTRICTIONS OPERATING
Steady streams of applicants for permits to make railway Journeys in excess of the 100 miles maximum, stipulated under the restrictions whleh became operative from Monday last, are daily being received at the Auckland railway booking office and at the Government Tourist Bureau.
The policy, rigidly adhered to, is that permits are issued only where applicants furnish what is considered reasonably Important reasons, such as for important business purposes, health reasons (in which cases documentary evidence is required), or where applicants desire to return to their homes. Pleasure trips over 100 miles are completely banned.
With restricted train services it Is not always possible to those receiving permits to travel immediately, they may be required to wait until notified that accommodation is available.
