OBITUARY

MR. J. C. BIX DON The death has occurred of Mr. James Crossley Bindon, aged 85, at his residence, 138, Western Springs Road, Morningside. Born in King's County, Ireland. Mr. Bindon came to New Zealand with his parents and brothers in 1866. Later, he and a brother owned the yacht Maritana, which won the race for first-class yachts in the Jubilee Regatta at Auckland in 1890. Mr. Bindon took up farming at Pokeno and retired in 1918, taking up residence at Morningside. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and five grandchildren.
