Reds Fall Back Under Hun Blitz

ROSTOV EVACUATED Berlin Claims All Don Delta Under German Control (United Press Association.—Copyright.—Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON, July 27. The Russians have had' to abandon more territory in the north of the Lower Don. The Soviet communique states: "To-day our troops fought the enemy all along the line. We have been forced to evacuate Rostov and Novocherkask. No material change has taken place in the other sectors of the front." It was announced that the Germans are pressing their attack with tremendous force and determination, seeking to gain an advantage by sheer weight of numbers.

On the Voronezh front the Russians are still having the best of the exchanges, but it is a sheer ding-dong battle, with high casualties and small results.

Between the two main battle fronts hard fighting is proceeding on the steppes bounded by the Don bend.

Berlin claims that all the Don delta is now under German control.

It was earlier reported from Moscow that the Russians on the south bank of the Lower Don were hammering the advancing German armies and smashing bridgeheads across the Don, The Russian Air Force in the Tsymlyanskaya area, supported by infantry and artillery, were blowing up pontoons and infantry with bombs and cannon fire.

The Germans on the north bank of the Don were reinforcing for a mass assault on the south bank.

The Russians on the Voronezh front developed a battle on the west bank of the Don and recaptured a large populated place north of Voronezh.
