SET FIRE TO BED

(0.C.) SYDNEY, July 22. Dreaming that she was about to light the gas to make a cup of tea, Mrs. Helen Hayes, of Milson's Point, set fire to her bed. Waking up blinded by the smoke, she stumbled around her room trying to find the door and was on the point of collapse when she did find it and fell into the arms of the proprietress of the lodging house who had been awakened by Mrs. Hayes' coughing. Mrs. Hayes always keeps matches beside her bed. Fire brigades had to be called to extinguish the blaze.
