ROTORUA MAYORALTY

(0.c.) ROTORUA, Sunday. By a majority of 44 votes, Mr. P. A. Kusabs was on the preliminary count elected Mayor of Rotorua at the poll taken on Saturday to fill the vacancy created by the recent death of Mr. H. D. Dansey. Mr. Kusabs' preliminary total was 1084, while his opponent, Mr. T. Jackson, polled 1040. There are about 50 declaration votes yet to be considered. Mr. Kusabs was deputy-mayor in the present council. Mr. Jackson was Mayor of Rotorua for 12 years prior to his defeat by Mr. Dansey last year by 185 votes.
