BUS ROUTES
SERVICES CANCELLED
LATE NIGHT TRIPS AFFECTED
Decisions regarding suggested curtailments of bus services by the companies cortcerned were made by the Metropolitan Licensing Authority this morning. Approval was given that a number of night trips of the Auckland Transport Board services be deleted, and other services were cancelled. In some cases where no curtailment was advised by the company, it was suggested that late night trips, Sunday and holiday trips be deleted, and the matter was deferred for the time being.
The question of L. J. Keys' services was referred to a committee of three to discuss the matter with the company. Several off-peak trips of the Hospital Bus Company were deleted, and contract trips and C.P.O. sightseeing trips of the Auckland Bus Company were cancelled. Trips to racecourses were also among those cancelled. In one or two cases the point was raised that overloading resulting from curtailment of a service would affect tyres unfavourably and thus defeat the purpose of the scheme.
