SERIOUS LABOUR SHORTAGE Special Australian Correspondent. Rec. 2 p.m. SYDNEY, this day The production of a certain type of cruiser tank at a New South W ales annexe is being seriously retarded because of shortage of foundry workers. The maintenance of production is urgently necessary in the national interest, states the Deputy Director General of Manpower, Mr C. J. Bellemore. The of -!l e annexe at a cost of £215,000 within a few months was considered one of Australia's outstanding war achievements.
