WOMEN AND THE ARMY
J would like to voice mv opinion with No Amazon, and many other wives and mothers. Our women and girls are already doing a wonderful work. The idea of girls taking up positions in the armed forces is repugnant to most right-thinking wives and mothers. Military camp lite is not at all suitable for women physically or morally. While mothers have to excuse lapses in our boys, as a result of camp life, it should not be asked of our girls. If this work in anti-aircraft posts and coastal batteries is light enough work for girls, why not give it to returned men of the last war, who are too old to take a more active part, or many other men that are not at present in uniform for health reasons? I claim if this work is light enough for girls, there are still enough men here who would only be too eager, given the opportunity, inere are still many positions open to our girls, with, of course, not so much social life. SOLDIER'S WIFE AND MOTHER.
