COUNCIL OF SPORT

Last night representatives of 30 sports bodies decided to form a council to be known in future as the Auckland Council of Sport. The meeting was convened by Mr. A. A. Baker, chairman of the Auckland Rugby Union, who presided. Similar bodies have been formed recently in Wellington and Otago. The object of the council will be to promote sport as a whole and to act when requested as the representative of the affiliated bodies in their efforts to obtain better facilities.

Sub-committee elected to recommend a constitution at the next meeting on Aug. B—Messrs. A. A. Baker (chairman), T. C. Hobbs-Jones, J. W. Watson, H. E. Watts, E. E. Nalder, H. L. Towers, J. C| Bonham, J. W. S. Taylor (secretary) and Miss P. Dawson.

After the constitution has been approved It will be circularised among all sports bodies in Auckland.
