APPLICATIONS NEXT MONTH
Advice to the public on the replacement of sugar ration coupons used for the purchase of sugar for jam making was contained in an announcement made by the Auckland district food controller, Mr. C. Clark, Chief Postmaster, to-day. we said that all people who had used, or intended to use, the August quota of sugar, which normally would De available on August 1 against coupons 15 and 18, for the purchase of sugar for jam making, ma y sl |P" plement the quantity so used by making application on or alter August 1 at the Chief Post Office or any of the permanent suburban post offices in the metropolitan area. Mr. Clark added: "Any allowance of sugar will be subtracted in each case from any issue of sugar which might be made in the main jammaking season. Applications for replacements must be made before August 31. In each instance the housewife (or widower) must present the ration books of the family for endorsement. All applications must be made personally, at the same time declaring that the sugar was used tor jam making. Applications by post will not be acknowledged. "Retailers are requested to keep a record of the quantities of sugar supplied to customers on permits secured under this arrangement."
