MANUKAU TO VISIT WELLINGTON?
At last evening's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Board of Control the chairman, Mr. J. W. Watson, mention the death ol Lieutenant-Colonel Love, commander of the Maori Battalion. Mr. Watson said that all supporters of the code would sympathise with the Maori people in their great loss.
The Manukau Club askrd permission to travel to Wellington on September 19 to plav a challenge match with the Aotea Club, it was decided to defer granting permission for a week.
Messrs. Watson and Phelan were appointed delegates to a meeting of sports bodies to consider the establishment of a sports council.
A deputation was received from the schoolboy committee to discuss matters of interest to the code.
The third round of the senior competition will commence on Saturday, and the trophy will be war bonds.
