AMENDED RULES FOR POINTS IN THE GALLAHER SHIELD
The Auckland Rugby Football Union last night decided to adopt the Southland Shield system of calculating points for the senior championship. This action was due to the first round of the Gallaher Shield not being fully played out. Consequently ten points will be awarded for victory and five for a draw. At the end of the season the total number of points gained by each team will be divided by the number of matches in which it has competed, and the club with the highest average will be declared senior champion. This method of awarding points will, of course, apply to games already played. Owing to the inability of the Manukau Club to field a team- at 1.30 p.m.. it was resolved to transfer the match Manukau v. M.T.P. from Eden Park No. 1 at 1.30 p.m. to Eden Park No. 2 at 3 p.m. The secondary schools' match set down to be played on No. 2 ground at 3 p.m. will now be played on No. 1 ground at 1.30 p.m. Resolutions of sympathy were passed with the families of Corporal O. A. Keane, Able-Seaman A. C. Land and Pilot Officer I. Irvine. D.F.M., all of the Technical Old Boys' Club, and Lieutenant N. H. McMillan. captain of King's College first fifteen for two years.
