Joseph Gaunt, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Gaunt, of Portland Road, Remuera, who has been commissioned in the Royal Navy. Sub-Lieutenant Gaunt was educated at the Auckland Grammar School, and left for overseas as an air gunner in the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1940. He was later transferred to the Royal Navy.
