SACRED GROUND

INCENDIARY DISPLAY

MUSEUM COUNCIL PROTEST

Strong exception to the action of the authorities in holding an incendiary bomb display on the court of honour in front of the Cenotaph was taken at a meeting of the Auckland Institute and Museum yesterday. Speakers pointed out that this was hallowed ground, and lack of respect for people's feelings was shown in permitting such a demonstration to be held there. There were plenty of other suitable places where it could have been held.

The council decided to communicate with the Returned Services' Association, which is responsible for the court, drawing its attention to the matter.
